What's New Here?
Oldest Living People Continue To Smoke While Non-Smokers Die Younger
Smoking is supposed to kill people. What I find is rather odd is the number of smokers who outlive non-smokers. The average life expectancy for most first world countries is around 75-80 years. Yet smokers live longer than this average.
Robert Charlton was 92 in November of 2006 and had been smoking since the age of 10. He outlived Levi Celeio from the Philippines who died at 91, having smoked all his life. Cigarettes also got the better of the Queen Mother of Elizabeth II when she died at 101 after being a smoker most of her life. George Burn is renown for having smoked cigars until he was 100 years old, and because of this Milton Berle refused to give up smoking; unfortunately he died of cancer of the colon at 93yrs. Hollywood director Billy Wilder died at 95yrs, having been a smoker all his life.
Jeanne Calment lived to be 122 yrs and 164 days and smoked most of her life, I suppose smoking killed her, but the question becomes what killed all the non-smokers who didn't live as long as her. Anyhow, good meaning people used to tell Jeanne to stop smoking because it would kill her in the end. I suppose it did in the end, because she gave it up when she was 117yrs old, only to take it back up when she turned 118 yrs old, because it made her feel miserable not to smoke.
There are many more people I can cite as having lived over 100yrs and still smoked. I, myself, don't smoke, although I did once. The reason I gave up smoking is I hated being enslaved to the habit. If I am going to live to 122 yrs or more, I would rather not be smoking. But then I do not feel miserable.
It is claimed that there is a direct correlation between lung cancer and smoking. I suppose we could argue that there is direct correlation between longevity and smoking. However, I would suggest that dying has to do more with other factors than smoking.
Poor nutrition and inner anxiety probably contribute more to death than anything else. It is no coincidence that heart disease is the leasing cause of death. Anxiety has been demonstrated to increase cancer and increase blood pressure, which overworks the heart. Combine this with insufficient nutrients getting to the heart through inadequate nutritional intake for the individual and heart disease becomes the leading killer, followed by cancer and both are related to anxiety.

When sexting goes wrong: Hysterical pictures of intimate messages sent to the wrong person
There is nothing quite like the sinking feeling that comes when you realise you have sent an email or text message to the wrong person.
So spare a thought for these senders who went one step further and sent a steamy photo to the wrong recipient, albeit with hilarious results.
These pictures of text messages reveal some of the amusing messages that sexters have sent to the wrong number.
Sexting fail: These hysterical pictures show the responses after intimate messages were sent to the wrong person
One of them shows a message from a
man called JD reading: 'Hey, its JD.Here's another pic. You got any more
pics of yourself?' - it is accompanied by a topless photo of the
sender.
But 'JD' must have got a shock when
he received a photo of a hairy, naked male chest in response alongside a
message reading: 'I think you have the wrong number.'
Another amusing image is when a photo
of a woman posing provocatively on a bed is sent to a number with the
message: 'I know u want it.'
Seconds later it is followed up with another
message from her reading: 'Im (sic) so sorry my bad.'

But it's too late and the recipient
replies 'Seriously?!'
The woman attempts to cover up the damage pleading:
'I am so so sorry bout that I had the wrong number.'
One of the pictures shows a man sprawled out on his bed, looking deeply into the camera with the greeting 'Hey.'
But instead of the lustful response
he was hoping for, the man receives a message back reading 'I think you
sent that picture to the wrong person sorry' alongside a photo of a man
holding his t-shirt up to reveal a hairy chest.
Another amusing incident is when a man texts a girl writing 'Hey Sophie!' alongside a smiley face emoticon.
The reply is curt reading 'Who is
this?' but the man clearly persists and writes: 'Lol you gave me your
number no more than five minutes ago.'
But his hopes of another meeting are
dashed when he received a text back reading 'I think she gave you the
wrong number... Ouch.'

Awkard: 'Mario' is arranging to buy look at a car gets alot more than he bargained for when the seller sent him a loved-up follow-up message, right,

Human Head Transplants Now Possible, Italian Neuroscientist Says (VIDEO)

In a provocative new paper, an Italian neuroscientist outlines how to perform a complete human head transplant, arguing that such a surgical procedure is now within the realm of possibility.
Switching heads sounds pretty "Frankenstein," for sure. But for decades researchers have been trying the procedure on animals. In 1970, the first head "linkage" was achieved in a monkey. But no one knew how to hook up the transplanted head to the spinal cord.
Now Dr. Sergio Canavero of the Turin Advanced Neuromodulation Group says he knows how to solve that problem.
"The greatest technical hurdle to such endeavor is of course the reconnection of the donor's and recipient's spinal cords," Dr. Canavero wrote in the paper. "It is my contention that the technology only now exists for such linkage. This paper sketches out a possible human scenario and outlines the technology to reconnect the severed cord (project GEMINI)."
He went on to say that several now-hopeless medical conditions might be addressed with the procedure, which would cost about $13 million.
Among the conditions that might be treated with a head transplant include muscular dystrophy and quadriplegia with widespread organ failure, according to U.S. News & World Report. And even some commenters on Reddit wrote they would be willing to donate their heads if given the option.
Dr. Canavero wrote in his paper that a clean-cut must be performed to disconnect and reconnect the donor's head at the spine. Then, special adhesives -- such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) -- would be used to fuse the donor's head and spine to the recipient.

15-year-old Canadian girl invents flashlight powered only by body heat & earns spot in Google Science Fair finals

The flashlight has been able to maintain light for over 20 minutes which makes it a handy device in case of emergencies
This girl's science project really puts your baking soda volcano to shame
A 15-year-old girl in Canada has invented a flashlight that only needs the warmth of the hand to turn on.
Ann Makosinski, a high school junior in Victoria, British Columbia, was trying to think of a way of harvesting untapped energy when she was inspired to make the flashlight.
She realized that the warmth generated by the human body was an overlooked energy source.
Her project objective was to create a flashlight that ran solely off the heat of the hand.
That objective was accomplished when she discovered Peltier tiles, which produce electricity when one side of the tile is heated and the other is cooled.
Makosinski realized she could use these tiles to create energy for her flashlight if she left the device hollow.
Holding the flashlight on the outside would cause the tiles to heat up on one side while the ambient air would cool down the tile on the inside of the flashlight.
The power created by the tiles was enough to power an LED light, but it did not create enough voltage.
To troubleshoot that issue she created a circuit that would allow for transformers, upping the voltage.
