The russian girl with X-RAY Eyes

Russian X-ray girl thrills Japanese scientists with her remarkable gift! British and Japanese scientists acknowledged that the girl possesses an astounding ability to see through people.

A 17-year-old Russian girl, Natasha Demkina, from the city of Saransk, Russia has become known for her astounding X-ray ability to see people through and diagnose diseases. Scientists became interested in the Russian girl's phenomenon: Natasha Demkina was invited to come to London and New York for scientific experiments. British researchers unanimously acknowledged Natasha's remarkable gift, whereas American scientists hesitated to come to such a conclusion. They did not like that fact that the girl successfully diagnosed diseases with only four patients out of seven. Natasha Demkina has recently passed a similar test in Tokyo, where Japanese scientists confirmed the gift of the Russian X-ray girl.

”It takes me too much time to explain and specify everything that I can see. Sometimes I can see diseases at their early stages, when neither patients nor their doctors have any slightest suspicions about them. That is why we had problems with American scientists,” Natasha says.

During the test in Japan, Natasha was able to see that one of the patients had a prosthetic knee. Another patient had asymmetrically placed internal organs. Natasha easily diagnosed early stages of pregnancy and even a pathology of the fetus with a female patient. She diagnosed a rare undulating spinal curvature with a male patient. When Japanese doctors compared Natasha's drawing of the curvature with the X-ray photograph, they could see that the photo and the drawing were absolutely identical. When Natasha was finished with her seven patients, Japanese doctors could not help bursting into applause. However, it was only the first stage of the trial.

Natasha Demkina was offered to diagnose the disease of an old rottweiler. The girl was afraid to approach the unmuzzled animal, but the doctor told her that she had to look at the dog's paws. Five minutes later the girl pointed at the animal's right back leg, in which she saw a prosthetic device.

The Japanese scientists did not believe the girl, when she told them that she could also see diseases on people's photographs. When she was presented a small, passport-sized photo of a person, she quickly diagnosed liver cancer with the person on the picture.

Miracle Baby; born with foot in brain

Surgeons carrying out an operation to remove a 'tumour' from a newborn baby's brain were shocked to find a perfectly-formed tiny foot, and some other body parts.

Three-month-old Sam Esquibel has been hailed a 'miracle baby' after he survived the operation on what doctors believed was a large tumour, picked-up during an ultrasound on Sam's heavily pregnant mother Tiffnie Esquibel.

Sam was born after an induced labour, allowing surgeons in Colorado to operate quickly.

Sam Esquibel
Sam Esquibel survived a modern medical miracle - after being born with a foot in his brain
But what followed was unbelievable.
'A lot of us who have been in practice long enough like to think we've seen everything,' neurosurgeon Dr Paul Grabb said.
'The foot quite literally popped out of the tumour. It made me stop operating, since I'm not used to seeing feet in the brain.
'This would be a one-in-a-lifetime finding in the operating room.'
When Dr Grabb finished surgery at Colorado Springs Memorial Central Hospital, he and other members of the surgical team told the Esquibels what he had found.
'They just looked at us and said, "It's just remarkable. It's for the books what we found".'
Manny and Tiffnie Esquibel
Manny and Tiffnie Esquibel had been trying for many years to have a child
Tiffnie Esquibel said she was equally stunned.
'We didn't know what to think when they told us what they found.'
Dr Grabb eventually removed the tumour, which was found to contain other partially formed body parts, including a thigh and a hand.
The body parts were found to be non-cancerous. Monthly tests on Sam have shown that it is not growing back.
Now, a vertical scar on his right temple, above the ear and just where his hairline ends, is the only sign that Sam is a medical marvel.

'He is a miracle,' his mother said. 'I just love him so much.'
Mrs Esquibel and her husband Manny Esquibel had been trying for most of their 13-year marriage to have a child and had finally resigned themselves to being childless.
'We came to the conclusion that we couldn't get pregnant and just stopped trying,' she said.
Mrs Esquibel said she did not notice anything unusual before the birth.
'I had a very normally pregnancy - I enjoyed every minute of it and seemed to be just fine.'
Although Sam is doing well now, Mrs Esquibel said there were tense moments.
'When I went into hospital I thought, "OK we're going to come out of here with a baby in our arms".
'But we didn't - he was in another hospital.
'They told us it was a 50-50 chance whether he could make it through it or not.'

Dr Nancy Snyderman, chief medical editor for NBC News, which interviewed the family, said that the tumour could be one of two rare birth conditions.
The first and more common is a teratoma, which is a mass that contains various incompletely formed body parts that may include hair and teeth.
'I've seen quite a few teratomas in my life, in the neck, in the chest, in the abdomen,' Dr Snyderman said.

'Never one in the brain.'
She said that the other condition, of which fewer than 100 have ever been reported in the world, is called fetus in fetu.  The term literally means "fetus in fetus" and occurs when one twin engulfs the other in the womb.

The engulfed twin feeds off the other as a sort of parasite and continues to grow and develop. Unless removed, it usually proves fatal.

Doctors who have reviewed Sam's case tend to think the tumour was a teratoma.
Dr Snyderman said that Sam would surely become a case study in a little-understood medical phenomenon.

The only noticeable side-effect of the operation is that Sam tends to fix his gaze towards the right side of his head where the tumour was.

256 Year Old Chinese Herbalist Li Ching-Yuen Reveals 15 Health Secrets

The herbalist had 23 wives and raised more than 200 children

According to the official records, herbalist Li Ching-Yuen was born in China in 1677  (although he himself claimed that he was born in 1736).  Throughout his long life, he constantly practiced herbal-ism and martial arts.. In 1930, the New York Times newspaper printed an article in which they published official Chinese government documents that were uncovered. These documents, dating back to 1827, contained official congratulations on Li Ching-Yuen's 150th birthday. Later documents, dating back to 1877, contained official congratulations on his 200th birthday.
How did he do that?
Li Ching-Yuen expressed his longevity formula in one sentence: "Retain a calm heart, sit like a turtle, walk swiftly like a pigeon, and sleep like a dog".

Let's add a few more interesting historical facts to this story. Chinese army general Yang Sen invited Li to visit him, and offered him an opportunity to teach Chinese soldiers martial arts. The general could not believe how youthful his guest was, even though he had reached an age of 250 years old.
Li Ching-Yuen died on the 6th of May in 1933. He told his students that he had completed all his tasks in this lifetime, and he was now ready to come home.
It is possible to find other interesting stories about Western health prodigies and Eastern Yogis who lived for over 100 years. Not only did they survive for this long, they also thrived—youthful, active, and full of enthusiasm. What could we learn from them?

Holistic medicine is all that we need

These days, even modern medicine agrees: 70% of all illnesses materialize because of negative thoughts or emotional stress. Illnesses attributed to this cause are called “psychosomatic,” and they are the biggest headache of the whole mainstream health-care system.
Sometimes several days of elevated stress is all that is needed to open up a gastric ulcer. Sometimes several years of it is all it takes to develop diabetes or heart disease, not to mention poor general health, lowered productivity, and lack of happiness. Doctors and scientists unanimously agree that our thoughts directly affect the activity of our organs and the state of our bodies in general. Ancient medicine is classified as holistic, because it takes care not only of the physical body, but also of the psyche, as well as one's personal lifestyle. This method allows one to remove the cause of the illness, rather than merely treating the symptoms, therefore stopping it from reappearing. Modern medicine, on the other hand, deals with the consequences of the illness—bodily ailments. This is why the illness often comes back, since the cause of the illness is not actually being treated.
This is where one of the biggest secrets to health reveals itself—our thoughts can heal us. There are multiple recorded stories that discuss people who were severely ill and healed themselves with the power of thought, despite doctors losing all hope. One of such impressive story tells us about Morris Goodman, who, in 1981, was involved in a plane crash and was supposed to die due to irreversible spine damage and a punctured diaphragm. The man's life was supported by a breathing ventilator, and the only movement he could do was blinking. However, this man was aware of the power of thought, and in just a few days successfully regenerated his own diaphragm and could breathe independently. He also consciously regenerated his damaged spinal cord and started to move all of his limbs. Doctors could not understand the situation at all because this just “could not be happening.” After a few months, however, Morris Goodman began to walk again, and eventually fully recovered. This is only one of many cases that are happening all around us. Thoughts cannot only make the body ill, but can also help it recover from incurable diseases.

Causes of hard to cure diseases from a different angle

The ancient ayurvedic health sciences not only prove the existence of psychosomatic illnesses, but also present a list of specific illnesses caused by specific character traits. What else could the thoughts be dependent on if not on the character?
Here are a few examples that could explain the causes of disease you or your loved ones may be suffering from:
  1. Jealousy - causes oncological diseases, weakens the immune system.
  2. Vengefulness - causes insomnia and throat diseases.
  3. Inability to find a solution to a situation - causes lung diseases.
  4. Lacking moral principals - causes chronic diseases, infections, and skin diseases.
  5. Being too categorical or unwavering in beliefs - causes diabetes, migraines, and inflammations.
  6. Lying - causes alcoholism, fungal infections, and weakens the immune system.
  7. Aggressiveness - causes gastric ulcers, acid reflux, and warts.
  8. Reticence - causes schizophrenia and kidney diseases.
  9. Cruelty - causes epilepsy, asthma, and anemia.
  10. Seeking conflicts - causes thyroid enlargement.
  11. Apathy - causes diabetes.
  12. Inconsistency or being fickle - causes infertility.
  13. Being rude or insulting - causes diabetes and heart diseases.
  14. Anxiety - causes digestive system disorders, heart, and skin diseases.
  15. Greed - causes oncological diseases, obesity, and heart diseases.
An interesting fact is that it is enough to cure your character, and the relevant diseases go away permanently. This is especially important to know for those who suffer from diseases such as diabetes and cancer, for which modern medicine does not have a cure.

Three ways to live healthfully and truly feel good

It will involve working on yourself—however, this investment will pay off greatly in the long run. Here are three methods, tested throughout three millenniums:
  1. Start monitoring your thoughts. Spend five minutes every evening writing down how you felt that day. Remember the situations you encountered and emotions you felt. What negative character traits does that uncover? What do you plan to do tomorrow to start improving yourself and to change those particular character traits? It is very important to write everything down.
  2. Try to think more about things that make you happy. This is the miracle of positive thinking. When you concentrate on the things that you like, it's as if you move to a different frequency of vibrations, and the body starts to heal itself. Even better, there will be a greater number of good things in your life, because everything you think about becomes reality, including the problems that bother you. Concentrate on things you enjoy and watch how everything begins to change.
  3. Try out meditation. During meditation, the body and mind rest and heal themselves. You can read more about meditation in the article
Illness is simply our body's signal about an incorrect (or, rather, non-beneficial) lifestyle. Firstly it manifests as anxiety, fear, and negative thoughts. Only then, if no effort is made to work on oneself, the body sends a more powerful signal to get your attention and make you think about what you are doing wrong, in the form of physical symptoms.
Leave only the useful and meaningful things in your life. Because everything that is useful to you is always useful to others.

Chinese Boy with Ability to see in Pitch Black Stuns Medics

A young Chinese boy who was born with beaming blue eyes has stunned medics with his ability to see in pitch black darkness.
Nong Yousui from Dahua, China has eyes that reflect neon green when light is shined on them. Doctors have studied Nong’s amazing eyesight since his dad took him to hospital concerned over his bright blue eyes.

“They told me he would grow out of it and that his eyes would stop glowing and turn black like most Chinese people but they never did”, his Dad said.
Nong enjoys playing outside with his schoolmates but experiences discomfort when in bright sunlight, however can see completely clearly in pure darkness.
To test his abilities, a Chinese journalist prepared a set of questionnaires which he was able to finish while sitting in a pitch black room. The tests show Nong can read and write perfectly without any light and can see as clearly as most people do during the day.
According to the World Record Academy (the leading international organization which certify world records), Nong has even set the world record for the first human who can see in the dark.

In animals, night vision is made possible by the existence of a thin layer of cells, called the tapetum lucidum. And like a Siamese cat, Nong’s sky-blue eyes flash neon green when illuminated by a flashlight.
Nong’s night vision has sparked interest around the world by vision scientists, evolutionary biologists, and genetic engineers. And this is good news for science as we may eventually be able to use genetic technologies to deliberately create such a condition ourselves.
A new and growing generation of extraordinary and gifted children are springing up across our planet.

A Man Claims to Have Not Eaten or Drank Any Liquids For 70 Years. Science Examines Him

Is it possible for us to survive with no food and water? Doctors are trying to determine that as they are baffled by an Indian man who claims not to have eaten or drank anything for the last 70 years. What is even more shocking? He is in perfect health.
Prahlad Jani is a local to the Indian city of Ahmedabad and is claiming he has not consumed any food or liquids since he was 8-years old. He also claims to have been blessed at the age of 8 by a goddess.

From April 22nd until  May 6th 2010 in the private hospital Sterling Hospital, Prahlad Jani was observed and tested by Sudhir Shah and a team of 35 researchers all from the Indian Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) and other organizations.

The large team studied Jani daily using clinical examinations, blood tests, and scans. 24 hour CCTV surveillance was used to ensure the maximum observation of Jani’s actions during the testing period. According to researchers, the only time Jani was taken out of his sealed room was for tests and exposure to sun. During these times, continuous video recording was done to ensure authenticity of results. Jani only had contact with any form of liquid when he had an occasional bathing session, which first took place on day 5, and when he would gargle some water. It is important to note that his toilet was sealed to test his claims that he did not urinate or defecate.

After the fifteen days of intensive observation during which Jani did not eat, drink or go to the toilet, all medical test results came back as normal and doctors described his health as being better than someone half his age. Interestingly, doctors reported that although the amount of liquid in Jani’s bladder fluctuated and that Jani appeared “able to generate urine in his bladder”, he did not pass any urine. The reported levels of Jani’ leptin and ghrelin, two appetite-related hormones, suggested that Jani may be demonstrating an extreme form of adaptation to starvation and water restriction.

Even after the 15 day examination, DIPAS is still interested in running tests on Jani to determine how metabolic waste material is eliminated from his body, where he gets his energy for sustenance, and how he maintains his hydration status.

The director of DIPAS believes that the results of Jani’s observations could “tremendously benefit mankind.” Professor Anil Gupta of SRISTI, involved in monitoring the tests, described the team as being “intrigued” by Jani’s kriyas apparently allowing him to control his body’s physiological functions.

Most people can live without food for several weeks, with the body drawing on its fat and protein stores. But the average human can survive for only three to four days without water. How is Jani able to achieve what he is achieving? Some believe that his access to bathing allowed him to store liquid in the body. Since the observation did not go on for longer than 15 days, some believe he might have eaten or drank after.

But Jani is not the first person to be tested with such claims. HRM, another Indian man, was tested for 411 days intensively after he claimed that he did not eat any food. While HRM did consume boiled water, during his 411 day observation it was confirmed that he did not eat during the period and yet his health was perfect.

To me this is exciting because regardless of the current science we accept when it comes to the physiology of the body, we are seeing that we may not have it all correct and that it is possible to change the consciousness of our body to operate differently. Having tried sungazing for several long periods myself, I can attest to the fact that you certainly get energy, and what feels like nutrient energy, from the sun alone. While sungazing, I found I could perform physical activity with much more energy than I could while eating healthy meals. Of course I cannot say my results are conclusive as I did not do them for long enough, but it’s my experience on the matter.
Here is more on Jani’s tests.

Harvard creates brain-to-brain interface, allows humans to control other animals with thoughts alone

Researchers at Harvard University have created the first noninvasive brain-to-brain interface (BBI) between a human… and a rat. Simply by thinking the appropriate thought, the BBI allows the human to control the rat’s tail. This is one of the most important steps towards BBIs that allow for telepathic links between two or more humans — which is a good thing in the case of friends and family, but terrifying if you stop to think about the nefarious possibilities of a fascist dictatorship with mind control tech.

In recent years there have been huge advances in the field of brain-computer interfaces, where your thoughts are detected and “understood” by a sensor attached to a computer, but relatively little work has been done in the opposite direction (computer-brain interfaces). This is because it’s one thing for a computer to work out what a human is thinking (by asking or observing their actions), but another thing entirely to inject new thoughts into a human brain. To put it bluntly, we have almost no idea of how thoughts are encoded by neurons in the brain. For now, the best we can do is create a computer-brain interface that stimulates a region of the brain that’s known to create a certain reaction — such as the specific part of the motor cortex that’s in charge of your fingers. We don’t have the power to move your fingers in a specific way — that would require knowing the brain’s encoding scheme — but we can make them jerk around.
Human BCI to rat focused ultrasound CBI, diagram
Which brings us neatly onto Harvard’s human-mouse brain-to-brain interface. The human wears a run-of-the-mill EEG-based BCI, while the mouse is equipped with a focused ultrasound (FUS) computer-brain interface (CBI). FUS is a relatively new technology that allows the researchers to excite a very specific region of neurons in the rat’s brain using an ultrasound signal. The main advantage of FUS is that, unlike most brain-stimulation techniques, such as DBS, it isn’t invasive. For now it looks like the FUS equipment is fairly bulky, but future versions might be small enough for use in everyday human CBIs. (See: Real-life Avatar: The first mind-controlled robot surrogate.)

With the EEG equipped, the BCI detects whenever the human looks at a specific pattern on a computer screen. The BCI then fires off a command to rat’s CBI, which causes ultrasound to be beamed into the region of the rat’s motor cortex that deals with tail movement. As you can see in the video above, this causes the rat’s tail to move. The researchers report that the human BCI has an accuracy of 94%, and that it generally takes around 1.5 seconds for the entire process — from the human deciding to look at the screen, through to the movement of the rat’s tail. In theory, the human could trigger a rodent tail-wag by simply thinking about it, rather than having to look at a specific pattern — but presumably, for the sake of this experiment, the researchers wanted to focus on the FUS CBI, rather than the BCI.

Moving forward, the researchers now need to work on the transmitting of more complex ideas, such as hunger or sexual arousal, from human to rat. At some point, they’ll also have to put the FUS CBI on a human, to see if thoughts can be transferred in the opposite direction. Finally, we’ll need to combine an EEG and FUS into a single unit, to allow for bidirectional sharing of thoughts and ideas. Human-to-human telepathy is the most obvious use, but what if the same bidirectional technology also allows us to really communicate with animals, such as dogs? There would be huge ethical concerns, of course, especially if a dictatorial tyrant uses the tech to control our thoughts — but the same can be said of almost every futuristic, transhumanist technology.

The Truth About Hair and Why Indians Would Keep Their Hair Long

This information about long hair has been hidden from the public since the Viet Nam War .

Our culture leads people to believe that hair style is a matter of personal preference, that hair style is a matter of fashion and/or convenience, and that how people wear their hair is simply a cosmetic issue. Back in the Vietnam war however, an entirely different picture emerged, one that has been carefully covered up and hidden from public view.

In the early nineties, Sally [name changed to protect privacy] was married to a licensed psychologist who worked at a VA Medical hospital. He worked with combat veterans with PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder. Most of them had served in Vietnam.

Sally said, "I remember clearly an evening when my husband came back to our apartment on Doctor's Circle carrying a thick official looking folder in his hands. Inside were hundreds of pages of certain studies commissioned by the government. He was in shock from the contents. What he read in those documents completely changed his life. From that moment on my conservative middle of the road husband grew his hair and beard and never cut them again. What is more, the VA Medical center let him do it, and other very conservative men in the staff followed his example.

As I read the documents, I learned why. It seems that during the Vietnam War special forces in the war department had sent undercover experts to comb American Indian Reservations looking for talented scouts, for tough young men trained to move stealthily through rough terrain. They were especially looking for men with outstanding, almost supernatural, tracking abilities. Before being approached, these carefully selected men were extensively documented as experts in tracking and survival.

With the usual enticements, the well proven smooth phrases used to enroll new recruits, some of these Indian trackers were then enlisted. Once enlisted, an amazing thing happened. Whatever talents and skills they had possessed on the reservation seemed to mysteriously disappear, as recruit after recruit failed to perform as expected in the field.

Serious causalities and failures of performance led the government to contract expensive testing of these recruits, and this is what was found.

When questioned about their failure to perform as expected, the older recruits replied consistently that when they received their required military haircuts, they could no longer 'sense' the enemy, they could no longer access a 'sixth sense', their 'intuition' no longer was reliable, they couldn't 'read' subtle signs as well or access subtle extrasensory information.

So the testing institute recruited more Indian trackers, let them keep their long hair, and tested them in multiple areas. Then they would pair two men together who had received the same scores on all the tests. They would let one man in the pair keep his hair long, and gave the other man a military haircut. Then the two men retook the tests.

Time after time the man with long hair kept making high scores. Time after time, the man with the short hair failed the tests in which he had previously scored high scores.

Here is a Typical Test:

The recruit is sleeping out in the woods. An armed 'enemy' approaches the sleeping man. The long haired man is awakened out of his sleep by a strong sense of danger and gets away long before the enemy is close, long before any sounds from the approaching enemy are audible.

In another version of this test the long haired man senses an approach and somehow intuits that the enemy will perform a physical attack. He follows his 'sixth sense' and stays still, pretending to be sleeping, but quickly grabs the attacker and 'kills' him as the attacker reaches down to strangle him.

This same man, after having passed these and other tests, then received a military haircut and consistently failed these tests, and many other tests that he had previously passed.

So the document recommended that all Indian trackers be exempt from military haircuts. In fact, it required that trackers keep their hair long."

Comment:
The mammalian body has evolved over millions of years. Survival skills of human and animal at times seem almost supernatural. Science is constantly coming up with more discoveries about the amazing abilities of man and animal to survive. Each part of the body has highly sensitive work to perform for the survival and well being of the body as a whole. The body has a reason for every part of itself.

Hair is an extension of the nervous system, it can be correctly seen as exteriorized nerves, a type of highly evolved 'feelers' or 'antennae' that transmit vast amounts of important information to the brain stem, the limbic system, and the neocortex.

Not only does hair in people, including facial hair in men, provide an information highway reaching the brain, hair also emits energy, the electromagnetic energy emitted by the brain into the outer environment. This has been seen in Kirlian photography when a person is photographed with long hair and then rephotographed after the hair is cut.

When hair is cut, receiving and sending transmissions to and from the environment are greatly hampered. This results in numbing-out .

Cutting of hair is a contributing factor to unawareness of environmental distress in local ecosystems. It is also a contributing factor to insensitivity in relationships of all kinds. It contributes to sexual frustration.

Conclusion:
In searching for solutions for the distress in our world, it may be time for us to consider that many of our most basic assumptions about reality are in error. It may be that a major part of the solution is looking at us in the face each morning when we see ourselves in the mirror.

The story of Sampson and Delilah in the Bible has a lot of encoded truth to tell us. When Delilah cut Sampson's hair, the once undefeatable Sampson was defeated.

Reported by C. Young

Comment: SOTT can't confirm this story or the research it suggests took place, however, we have wondered on many occasions, what is the use of hair and why so many legends refer to hair as being a source of strength, from Samson, to Nazarenes, to the Long Haired Franks.

A one eye baby and other horrible human mutations

Whenever I see a blind person being led around by a seeing eye dog or someone without legs wheeling themselves around on a skateboard, I feel an overwhelming amount of gratitude towards whatever or whomever the hell created me without any major physical disorder.  Can I still say “disorder?” Politically correct terms are evolving at such a fast pace that I’m probably still using words that became inappropriate back in August.  Anyhow, the point being that I’m grateful.  Well, it would always bother me when I’d be reading X-Men comics and certain mutants would consider their gifts a “curse,” wishing they could have been born normal.  Well the following are some existing human mutations they could have been born with, none of which would have attracted the attention of Professor X.  So if you happen to be a member of the X-Men and you’re reading this, stop your whining and be grateful.

Mermaid Syndrome

Approximately 1 out of every 100,000 babies are born with their legs fused together as a result of the congenital deformity known as Sirenomelia.  Of course we know what you’re probably thinking:  that’s enough babies to create your very own army of super-swimming mer-people.  And while we applaud your creativity, we are utterly disgusted with your incredible insensitivity in this matter.  You should be aware that there are very few survivors of the mutation.

Most infants with Sirenomelia don’t make it past day one.  If this fact depresses you, go rent The Little Mermaid.  You’ll be singing “Under the Sea” in no time.

Arnold Syndrome

This bone mutation would make hiding valuable items between your shoulders relatively easy:  “Nuclear bomb detonator, what nuclear bomb detonator?”  But a bird from high enough in the sky could poop on your head and cause brain damage.  The one with true value to the X-Men in this story would be Arnold himself, who’s ability to acquire wives and pass his mutation on to a thousand descendants could be useful.  He could seduce enemies like Mystique, producing shape-shifting offspring with missing clavicles and holes in their heads.  Kids will point and laugh at these freaky children, giving them low self-esteem and eating disorders.  The therapist bills alone will surely annoy the hell out of Mystique.  Mission accomplished.

Dwarfism/Gigantism

fedor-hong-man-choi-yarennoka Even though we’re huge fans of Lord of the Rings and the NBA, and we’re fully aware of the incredible feats both tiny and giant people are capable of, we’re still going to include size-ism on the list of mutations the X-Men couldn’t capitalize on. The size of a human is largely determined by the amount of growth hormones secreted by the pituitary gland. A defect in the gland can trigger either too much hormone in the body or not enough. When you’re a giant, all your organs are working overtime to accommodate your huge body, and it becomes difficult to develop the strength and agility needed to do battle with the likes of Sabretooth, and you would also lack the teleportation skills, the ability to manipulate the atomic structure of your body, and the immortal qualities necessary to last more than a micro-millisecond in the same room as Apocalypse. Of course this is an extreme example. Most X-Men themselves don’t stand a chance against Apocalypse, but their mutations would in some way help them escape. Perhaps if you were tiny you could hide from your foes. But let’s face it, unless you have the magic of wizards, elves, and an army of men to protect you, you’re getting drop kicked into outer space.

Scrotal Elephantiasis

scrotacular-man Known for their size, strength, tough hides and increased memory capabilities, you’d think anyone whose mutation begins with the prefix “elephant” would be a welcome member of the team. Unfortunately the disease (which is commonly mispronounced Elephantitis) blocks the lymphatic vessels, which in turn causes severe thickening of the skin in the legs and genitals. This would make running, jumping, roundhouse kicking and other superhero-related movements impossible. If secondary symptoms of the disease included super-memory and giant facial tusks, then maybe they could be used as bouncers who stand around menacingly, remembering stuff. But they don’t. In severe cases, the male scrotum can inflate to the size of a pumpkin, which would be a nightmare for whoever’s in charge of making X-Men uniforms.

Rubber Lip..ism?

Awesome at parties, but other than being able to carry extra hand grenades, fairly useless on the battlefield.

Tree Man

hurl-man1Dede Kosawa came close, but as the saying goes, we cannot bequeath a cigar unto him. Despite the fact that his nickname already possesses the superhero quality of having “man” at the end, and the fact that his mutation would distract enemies by causing them to throw up into nearby bushes, Tree man would be of little use to Professor X and the gang.  The warts which cover his arms and legs have sprouted into long brownish branches….brb….sorry, had to vomit into a recycling bin.  These branches do not give him super gripping abilities or throwing strength like the Ents from LOTR.  In fact the tree growths on his arms alone have added an extra 12 pounds to his 100-pound body….brb….making him very tired after short walks.

Cyclopia

cyclops-babyScott Summers should consider himself lucky that his eyeballs shoot lasers, because if he were a true cyclops, he’d be on display in a museum in a jar.  Cyclopia is an extremely rare congenital abnormality and is caused when the embryonic forebrain fails to subdivide properly.  As a result, the brain fails to divide the orbits of the eyes into two cavities, and fails to develop a proper nose.  The baby is then born with one eye, no nose, or a tube-shaped nose above the eye.  Most babies don’t survive (if this makes you sad, see Mermaid Syndrome for tips on how to cheer you up), making it very difficult to determine if their eye can shoot lasers. fedor-hong-man-choi-yarennoka Even though we’re huge fans of Lord of the Rings and the NBA, and we’re fully aware of the incredible feats both tiny and giant people are capable of, we’re still going to include size-ism on the list of mutations the X-Men couldn’t capitalize on.
